Let me introduce myself, my name is Gregory Vekiarellis I am the proud owner and a passionate gelatiere of Pure Bronte Pistachio.
I like to start with one of my earliest memory I had as a child.
First I must paint a picture with words for You! The heat wave in Europe in the summer of 1986 was one of the warmest ever recorded, the sun was so bright the women were so beautiful...I recall myself easily watching them even as a mere 9 year old, as if they were goddesses, the beach was vibrant, full of colour and so alive, the only problem was I was alone with my Grandmother, and like any 80 year old she didn’t want to be near the beach in her balck clothing. She said the only place we can enjoy ourselfes during summer months is up in the mountains were the air thinner and cooler.
After the first couple of nights didn’t feel like to go outside at all, of course my Grandma with an old fashion Greek manner kicked me out.
It was than when I have noticed an little commuinty and found other children there to play with in the village. Of course wasn’t like on the beach, but it was real, a place where everybody knew each other, a place where was no technology and the only way of passing time is to interact with people! There was a cake shop, owned by Anastasios, who was born there, but served during the II.world war in Sicily, where he learned the age old secret of deserts and gelato.
At that moment I felt everything changed inside of me, I didn’t understand how could one person make something so incerdible and so refreshing and I just had to learn, it was the summer on 1986 that my love for food and especially Gelato was recognized.
